Kelli Cahoone

Art, Group Music, Piano, Waldorf

Growing up in the Denver outskirts, Kal Cahoone (Miss Kelli) began her journey long ago at the Open School in Jeffco, a high school where she thrived in an alternative education setting and was encouraged to teach Spanish after a home-stay with a family in Mexico.

After a degree in Spanish and Creative Writing from Metro State University and a semester abroad in Spain she moved to Chile, where she taught English, wrote poetry and began to sing.

Soon she found herself in Buenos Aires, Argentina with a composer and musician where her journey as a musician began. She drew from childhood piano lessons and began learning accordion, writing lyrics, singing and performing. Since then she has released many albums and continues to play in a local band.

After giving birth to her only child, a daughter, in 2004, she discovered the beauty and balance of Waldorf Education. With 10 years of experience in this holistic education in both private and public she had the opportunity to do lots of wonderful training with the Waldorf Healing Arts of eurythmy, singing, painting and drawing and also taught Spanish through singing and the arts. She founded the Mountain Phoenix Homeschool Program where she taught children art and music.

She has a certificate in Waldorf Music from Sunbridge (mostly folk singing/dance) and also in the Building Bridges to Waldorf Teacher Training through Antioch University. She is pursuing a certificate A in the Dalcroze Method of Music.

Miss Kelli currently enjoys teaching music and art at Escuela de Guadalupe in Denver to grades K-5 and looks forward to sharing the rhythm, balance and therapeutic joys of arts exploration from around the world at New Cottage Arts!
